When you ship a fragile item at the Delta Oaks PakMail, you can be assured that you are getting the best possible care for your item.

These are the steps we follow to ensure your package arrives on time and intact.

1. Your item is wrapped in bubble wrap, covering all surfaces for an all-around blanket of protection. Then, we fit it in a box of sufficient size to allow at least 2″ of packing peanuts for maximum shock absorption in the event of a drop or fall. When shipping nested items, each item will be separated from the next by a layer of bubble wrap or other more suitable material.

Special note: If you wish to do some of the preliminary preparation please follow these guidelines for a successful experience:

If shipping plates, bread plates, salad, desert plates, saucers or soup bowls, they should be packed in an inner box to be placed on their edges. Stacking them flat, as you would in your cupboard, actually increases the risk of damage in transit. All of these types of items that are going in the same box, should be taped together so they can’t move around in shipping. If you choose to pack your own cups, vases or an item shaped in a circle, always lay it on its side after filling the hollow areas with styrofoam peanuts and wrapping in large bubble wrap. Make sure that everything is well cushioned with styrofoam  peanuts on all sides of the items after taping similar items together inside separate boxes or inside ¼ inch thick styrofoam sheets made into boxes, or with styrofoam sheets separating layers and taped then packed in an inner box.

2. Major shipping companies (such as UPS and FedEx) require a minimum amount of packing material between the inner and outer boxes. This can be 4″ or more, depending on the item.

3. Your item packed and shipped through us gets bubble wrap and styrofoam packing materials, as they are far lighter than newspaper and help reduce the cost of shipping, plus bubble wrap and styrofoam peanuts have better shock absorbing ability than newspaper.

4. We can help ensure your package arrives safely by inspecting your packaging prior to shipping, and advising you of your options if there is any doubt.
